We at ReviewRedding.com enjoy serving the local community. We are going through some growing pains right now and will have some of the issues worked out as soon as we get a chance.
Things that we are doing:
- Keeping it Local: Removing all listings that are not locally owned and operated. No more chains. Sorry Starbucks!
- Adding a Free Coupon Section. Our coupons are free, but you used to have to go through our advertising department to get them on the site. Now, we will have the ability for the customer to place their coupons on the site at no charge all by their lonesome.
- Expansion: We have had lots of people ask to be put into our directory. We are listening. We will do a phased expansion, adding categories as we move forward.
Thanks for supporting ReviewRedding.com, and as always, tell the business owner you saw them on ReviewRedding.com. They won't give you 10% off, but it looks good for us.

Something new to do this weekend. |
|
Do you like football? Already feeling the hunger pains after the Superbowl. Well, Redding has it's own team.
The Shasta Longhorns (http://shastalonghorns.com).
Owner Chris Navarro hopes that bringing semi-professional, or as he calls it, club football to Redding will be a great thing for the community.
Redding has a long history of semi-professional football teams. For some reason, the community has never really gotten behind it. Maybe this team will be different. The team consists of a lot of local football talent. Mr. Navarro hand picked a team after holding tryouts and inviting many of the Alumni Football Players from last year's Alumni Football games. In case you didn't know, Shasta beat Enterprise 46-6 one day after the Shasta High School Wolves fell to the Enterprise Hornets in the River Bowl.
Now, almost 5 months later, players from Shasta and Enterprise, along with other Alumni players and local talent, gear up together to take on the Pacific Coast Football League's All-Star Team.
Kickoff will be at 5:00 PM at U-Prep's Gilmore Stadium. Mr. Navarro will be donating some of the proceeds of this game and others to local high school sports programs.
See http://shastalonghorns.com for more details. |

In case you didn't know, Bobba Lou's gave all the sandwich shops an early Christmas present, closing it's doors on December 24th, 2009. The owners stated that poor economic conditions have forced the close. For every good month they had, it seemed like they had two bad ones.
I am at a huge loss with Bobba Lou's closing it's doors. I have to say that I averaged at least one #19 Tony Soprano every other week, if not more. My wife and I both ate the same sandwich. Although we tried a few of the other sandwiches, the #19 was the BEST SANDWICH OF ALL TIME!
The staff was always friendly and attentive and they will be missed sorely.
But, wait, there's more........................
A little birdie (Bobba Lou) told me that they are going to try and regroup after the holidays. They are currently in the process of looking for a location that might be more conducive to a steady flow of patrons. The Buena Ventura location was always busy from about 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, but that's enough to keep the doors of any business open. I discussed with them the possibility of going into the old location where the "original" TOGO's was (On Churn Creek in the FoodMax shopping center). Robert said he like that location and would consider moving anywhere on that side of town.
We at ReviewRedding.com wish the Bobba Lou's crew all the best and pray for a new location in the Churn Creek/Dana Drive area. We hope to soon announce this new location and will keep you all well informed. |

Food, Inc. Film Screening and Panel Discussion
February 6, 2010 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
The Shasta-Cascade Farm and Food Coalition and Ingredients for Change, along with their many local partners and sponsors, announce the community screening of the 2009 critically acclaimed documentary, Food, Inc. followed by a panel discussion with local leaders and experts in their fields. With obesity and diabetes becoming a major health concern at all age levels, and access to healthy food is on the decline while fast food is becoming the main source of nutrition for many, Food, Inc. explores our food system for answers to these problems. More than one in four teenagers in Shasta County is overweight or obese and likely to have life-long health problems, unless we change the current system. These are not only health issues but economic issues. The rising cost of health care and health insurance will make this an extremely important issue in this decade. It is our intent to educate the community and get them involved in a discussion on practical solutions and meaningful action.
Our distinguished panel features local experts on agriculture and nutrition: Gail Feenstra, PhD ” UC Davis Food Systems Analyst, SAREP Glenn Hawes ” Shasta County Supervisor and Farmer Gerry Long ” Shasta County Organic Farmer and Certifier Dan Marcum, PhD” Farm Advisor, UC Cooperative Extension Dr. Ronald Reese, MD ” Medical Doctor and Land Use Advocate Bob Williams, PhD ” Retired UCLA Professor and Cattlemens Assoc.
