This is by far the cheapest place in Redding to get ice cream. (Not counting going to the store and buying a half gallon:) We take the kids here all the time and everyone gets what they want for under $5. There is only 2 negatives that come to mind: Not a huge selection, and no place to sit down with the family and eat the ice cream. Cause heaven knows I'm not letting a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old anywhere near my car with a dripping cone, face fingers, and clothes!!!!!
I used to eat this stuff when I was a kid!

Yep, Thrifty Ice Cream is still around! Of all the fancier ice cream shops we have in Redding, we still choose good, old-fashioned Rite Aid for a quick and yummy summer snack (and we do go in there specifically for the ice cream). My kids love the cool, colorful flavors, and I love the fact that they still sell the chocolate malted crunch! Used to be my fave as a kid. Ahh, nostalgia.

What's better than Ice Cream. This is probably a spontaneous purchase although some people may go here specifically for a cone. The old-fashioned Ice-cream in the drug store is still alive at this Rite-Aid. Get some shopping done and grab a quick cone. Friendly staff seem to enjoy scooping!
