Do you like football? Already feeling the hunger pains after the Superbowl. Well, Redding has it's own team. The Shasta Longhorns (http://shastalonghorns.com). Owner Chris Navarro hopes that bringing semi-professional, or as he calls it, club football to Redding will be a great thing for the community. Redding has a long history of semi-professional football teams. For some reason, the community has never really gotten behind it. Maybe this team will be different. The team consists of a lot of local football talent. Mr. Navarro hand picked a team after holding tryouts and inviting many of the Alumni Football Players from last year's Alumni Football games. In case you didn't know, Shasta beat Enterprise 46-6 one day after the Shasta High School Wolves fell to the Enterprise Hornets in the River Bowl. Now, almost 5 months later, players from Shasta and Enterprise, along with other Alumni players and local talent, gear up together to take on the Pacific Coast Football League's All-Star Team. Kickoff will be at 5:00 PM at U-Prep's Gilmore Stadium. Mr. Navarro will be donating some of the proceeds of this game and others to local high school sports programs.
